Current release: 1.14
- S-Lang scripting
- Programmable hotkeys
- Configurable foreground text colour and font
- Support for frames when crawling a website
- Tab selection between subwindows
- whois.crsnic.net redirection to handle new TLD registrars
- Updated HTMLHelp documentation
- Bugfixes. Lots of bugfixes.
- Configurable background pattern or colour
- Set local system time from SNTP server
- Better email header parsing
- Complaint letter composition
- Toolbars split, so they can be placed independently
- (Optional) flat IE4/5 style toolbars
- Increase / decrease font size temporarily
- Pingcount is now preserved (finally...)
- IP addresses written as numbers (eg 2546223882) are handled more
elegantly (for IP block lookup, whois, DNS and RBL checks, anyway)
- The background colour of the child windows is configurable
- whois code changed to work around a bug in
Internics whois server
New in 1.09
- More robust handling of transient DNS errors
- Specific error messages added for winsock errors
New in 1.08
- whois code tweaked in an attempt to find out what internic broke
- ORBS and ORCA DUL queries added to RBL query. My inclusion of these
doesn't mean I recommend them for use as mail filters. I do recommend
use of the RBL, but you should decide carefully before using the others
- Bug that caused many menu items to vanish when no child windows were open
fixed
- RCPT TO: check added to the SMTP verify
- DHCP support for DNS server
- Abuse.net abuse address lookup
- RBL lookup
- .jp whois now in English
- HTTP/1.0 used for webcrawling (works with cheap-virtual domains)
- Webbrowser supports HTTP/0.9, 1.0 & 1.1
- Bugfixes, particularly for traceroute
- Log window isn't shown unless it's used
- A few major bug fixes - closing a window whilst a slow traceroute is
running shouldn't crash the program any longer
- Some aesthetic improvements to the interface
- Log files. There's the option to log results to four logfiles (two
permanent, two for just the current session. Two for all results, two
only for results copied to the log window)
- More, improved tips of the day
- A fast, graphical traceroute.
- Support for IP block lookups via whois.arin.net. This is a major update
- Tiny bugfix - prevents GPF on exit
- Another selection/copy bug removed. Previously it GPFed if you tried
to copy less than one line
- Closing a running traceroute window used to GPF occasionally. I've
fixed one race condition that was causing the problem. If there are others
I'm sure someone will let me know :-)
- IP Block lookup now understands Internic redirection to APNIC
- You can now finger a host, as well as an individual
- Some problems with hotlinks in dig output (corrupted or blank hostnames)
have been fixed
- Dig support for GPOS (Geographical Position) fields has been added.
It promises to be very cool if it works, but I've yet to find a host supporting
GPOS fields, so I can't test it :-(
- Selection has had some bugs killed - it shouldn't crash on copy and paste now
- Keyboard scrolling of windows
- Automatic version update removed (sorry folks - I'm preparing for a
general release, and my web server can't take the load of more than a few
thousand people checking for updates)
- About box upgraded - includes a check for current version button
- Help updated
'dig -x' added
- SMTP Verify on toolbar
- Some HtmlHelp fixes - it still works only on IE4 though
- Winhelp format as well as HTML help
- Assorted bugfixes...
- ...and assorted new bugs - see the known bugs section
- Full selection (click, drag, cut, paste etc.)
- Online help
- Install, uninstall support
- Configurable fonts
- Slightly configurable colours (there's no way to configure them
within the program, but they can be configured with regedit)
- Better header analysis (strips quoting, handles broken headers
pasted from netscape)
- Many minor bugfixes
- Web browser. This doesn't try and render the HTML, but instead
shows the raw http traffic. It doesn't tell the webserver anything,
so is nice for poking around hostile websites. Pretty good for
debugging cgi scripts too.
- Web crawler. Will search a website for useful stuff, or download
a copy to you local machine
- Usenet cancel checker.
- Keep alive.
- Paste into address box works
- A couple of GPF problems fixed
- Multiple nameservers don't break things
- Minor fix - can now access more than 2000 records in a zone transfer
- Slow window closing bug fixed
- No more zombie processes
- Text output optimised so it now displays long zone transfers
without slowing to a halt
- Should work under Win95 (I don't have access to a Win95 machine
right now, so confirmation of this would be appreciated)
- Smart paste now selectable
- Can analyse email headers even if they've been forwarded and
are prefixed by '>'
- No longer works under Win95. This wasn't intentional, and
will be fixed in 0.95
- whois links in IP block / whois output fixed
- The memory corruption and crash caused by clearing the log has been
fixed
- Correct IP addresses shown for reverse DNS lookup
- Whois is now somewhat smarter - if you try and whois an IP
address or an IP prefix whilst the whois server is set to 'Magic'
it'll do the right IPblock lookup instead.
- Zombie processes are now killed at exit - this should solve a
lot of problems. Later... But it still doesn't work. Microsofts
runtime is beginning to really annoy.
- Last vestiges of falcon removed - they're completely separate
programs now.
- IP Block linewrap fixed
- Copy to clipboard works
- 'Clear Log' fixed
- Email validation fixed
- Tip of the Day added
- Version checking added
- Spammer shitlist updated
- Bug workaround for multiple instantiations
- Bugfix. Major bug trying to whois unknown domains or domains in capital letters
no longer hangs the program
New in 0.9
- SMTP Relay check added
- Option to save zone transfers to file instead of displaying them
- Digs through registry to find nameserver
- Scan for active ports on a range of addresses. Has options to scan for up
to 720 different services on each system
- SMTP VRFY and EXPN added to right-click menu
- Dejanews profile added
- Hard limit of no more than 1000 outstanding transactions, avoids
problems of running out of memory on smaller machines
- Regex library replaced with one that works without crashing
- Infinite loop on some received lines problem fixed
- Save As... works
